TITLE:  Iowa 150, Linn County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 150 begins at a junction with US 151 in Cedar Rapids and travels westerly, northwesterly, northerly and westerly via the Cities of Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, Center Point and Walker to the Linn‑Benton County line approximately 2 ½ miles east of Walker.

 

Interstate 380 was opened to traffic to a junction with Iowa 101 north of Urbana August 14, 1984.  In conjunction with this opening Iowa 101 in Benton County was re-designated as Iowa 150.  The description of Iowa 150 in Linn County should be removed from the Primary Road System to reflect this re-designation.  Portions of Iowa 150 in Linn County should be re-designated as Iowa 100, unsigned Iowa 921 and unsigned Iowa 920.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve deleting the present description of Iowa 150 in Linn County from the Primary Road System.

 

Remove Iowa 150 and its extensions in Linn County described as follows:

 

Cedar Rapids:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at 1st Avenue (junction US 151); thence westerly, southwesterly and northerly to the north corporation line (south corporation line of the City of Hiawatha) connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Hiawatha:

 

Beginning on the south corporation line (north corporation line of the City of Cedar Rapids) connecting with an unnamed street; thence northwesterly to the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Iowa 150 in Linn County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 150 in Linn County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
